Glenn Phillips completely took the ODI out of Pakistan's grasp with his whirlwind century. Phillips' 74-ball 106* witnessed New Zealand gain a mammoth score on the scoreboard, after fifties from Kane Williamson, and Daryl Mitchell.  Chasing 331, Pakistan never found any momentum, losing wickets at regular intervals. Only, Fakhar Zaman kept the home side in the hunt, scoring a brisk 84 off 69. Matt Henry, and Mitchell Santner claimed three wickets each, while Michael Bracewell claimed two to hand Black Caps an comprehensive win by 78 runs.Â
OUT! Matt Henry gets his third wicket, and Naseem Shah's small little cameo knock comes to an end. Shah wanted to hit the bat but managed to edge the ball to the keeper. Naseem Shah c Latham b Matt Henry 13(23)
OUT! Matt Henry comes into the back and instantly gets his second wicket. A slower ball became Shaheen Afridi's undoing, who wanted to heave the ball over the boundary, but managed to hole out to the fielder near backward square leg. Shaheen Afridi c (sub)Nathan Smith b Matt Henry 10(16)
OUT! Another wickets falls, and Pakistan are crumbling like a shortbread. Michael Bracewell comes into the attack and manages to lure Agha into hitting a big shot, that goes straight into the hands of a long-on. Salman Agha c Mitchell b Michael Bracewell 40(51)
OUT! The pressure was building on Pakistan batters, and that led to Khushdil Shah's wicket. Shah came down the track to Mitchell Santner, who bowled a slower ball, that was also away from the batter's reach, which found the gloves of Tom Latham for an east stumping. Khushdil Shah st Latham b Mitchell Santner 15(18)
OUT! Another one bites the dust, as Tayyab Tahir gets out for 30 off 29. Matt Henry working his magic with the ball, and getting his maiden wicket of the match. Tahir went for the pull shot, but a leaping Michael Bracewell caught hold of a brilliant catch. Tayyab Tahir c Michael Bracewell b Matt Henry 30(29)
Salman Agha and Tayyab Tahir are looking solid at the crease. Both Pakistan batters are ticking the scoreboard quickly and have released some pressure after they lost opener Fakhar Zaman for 84 runs in the 24th over. New Zealand will aim for more wickets and take control in this match.
OUT! Glenn Phillips can do no wrong today, first with the bat, and now with the ball as well. Phillips gets rid of the dangerous Fakhar Zaman, who was en route to a blistering hundred but has to walk back to the pavilion on 84, which had seven fours and four sixes. Fakhar Zaman lbw b Phillips 84(69
OUT! Two wickets in as many overs for Mitchell Santner, and Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan has to go back to the dressing without disturbing the scores much. Rizwan wanted to play the shot on the back foot, but missed the ball completely, which hit the batter straight on the pads. Rizwan did take a review, but replays only justified the on-field umpires call. Mohammad Rizwan lbw b Mitchell Santner 3(11)
OUT! Mitchell Santner gets the well-set Kamran Ghulam, who looked to take the game away from New Zealand with his attacking brand of cricket. After adding 51 runs with Fakhar Zaman, Ghulam went for the expansive shot after Santner built pressure with disciplined bowling. Kamran Ghulam c Will Young b Mitchell Santner 18(32)
Fakhar Zaman after his half-century has slowed down, but Kamran Ghulam has ensured that the flow of runs does not take a huge dip. Both have added run-a-ball fifty for the second wicket partnership and look well-set to provide incoming batters a solid platform to chase later.Â
Despite the fall of Babar Azam's wicket, Fakhar Zaman has not slowed down his innings and notched up his 17th ODI half-century, laced with five fours, and two sixes. Kamran Ghulam, too, has managed to get the scoreboard ticking, scoring 15 off 15, enabling some pressure of Zaman.Â
OUT! Just what New Zealand wanted. Michael Bracewell comes into the attack and gets the key wicket of Babar Azam, who looked to go nowhere during his 23-ball stay. Azam wanted to just play the ball for a single, but the slowness of the pitch, sees the delivery find the batter mistime the shot. Babar Azam c Phillips b Michael Bracewell 10(23)
After a slow start, Pakistan's openers, particularly Fakhar Zaman, have taken the New Zealand bowlers to the cleaners, hitting them for boundaries at will. Out of the 48 runs, Zaman has singlehandedly struck 38 runs, while Azam contributed only 8 runs.Â
This has been a subdued start from Pakistan openers, where Fakhar Zaman could have been out as many as two times. A lot depends on Zaman to provide Pakistan a quick start, with Babar Azam most likely playing the sheet anchor role.Â
Welcome back for the chase, as Pakistan opener Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman are out in the middle. Both Azam and Zaman will hope to provide Pakistan with a steady start and make full use of the powerplay. On the other hand, New Zealand pacers will look to make early inroads having put up a mammoth score on the board.Â
A daunting total posted by New Zealand, and Glenn Phillips played a wonderful knock to help them to achieve such a total. The Black Caps lost their openers for a low score. Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell slammed fighting half-centuries and also stitched a crucial stand for the third wicket. However, the visitors lost wickets in quick succession. Michael Bracewell played a decent cameo and added some handy runs, but it was Phillips who stole the show. The batter remained unbeaten on 106 runs off 74 balls and helped New Zealand to reach a powerful score.

The right-handed batter took his helmet off and soaked in the crowd applause. His teammates were on their feet and gave him a standing ovation. What a powerful batting this from Glenn Phillips.
Fifty! A wonderful half-century from Glenn Phillips. A timely knock this is from the New Zealand batter. Raises his bat to acknowledge the crowd. New Zealand will hope he will carry till the end of their innings. Will he be able to take New Zealand past the 300-run mark? We shall find out soon.
Out! Michael Bracewell departs after playing a cameo. The third wicket of the match for speedster Shaheen Afridi. Talking about the wicket, it was a short ball around off, and Bracewell went the aerial route. The left-handed batter mistimed the shot, and Saud Shakeel took an easy catch in the long-on region. Michael Bracewell c (sub)Saud Shakeel b Shaheen Afridi 31(23)
