Rwanda, September 7: A shocking discovery has been made in Rwanda's capital, Kigali, where police found over 10 bodies buried in the kitchen of a 34-year-old man's rented home. This man is now suspected to be a serial killer who allegedly lured his victims from bars to his residence in a Kigali suburb. Multiple reports suggest that more than 10 bodies have been unearthed, while an anonymous source within the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) claims the count stands at 14 victims so far.
However, an RIB spokesman, Thierry Murangira, refrained from confirming the exact number, emphasising that the final count would depend on forensic investigations. This suspect had previously been arrested in July on charges of robbery, rape, and other offences. However, due to a lack of evidence, he was granted bail. Subsequent investigations led to his rearrest on Tuesday, September 6, during which a search of his home unveiled the grim discovery of bodies buried in a pit he had dug in his kitchen. The suspect confessed to the killings during questioning, revealing that he had learned his gruesome methods from watching famous serial killers and even dissolved some of his victims in acid. He targeted victims, often prostitutes, by luring them to his home, robbing them of their belongings, strangling them to death, and burying their bodies in the kitchen of his rented house. The accused reportedly targeted individuals who were less likely to have close family or friends to look out for them. Preliminary investigations indicate that the victims were both male and female. The exact number of victims and the full extent of this horrifying case will be determined as the investigation progresses. As of now, the suspect has not been formally charged.
