Sumitra Mahajan Admitted In Indore Hospital: Confusion Over Her Health Status, Shashi Tharoor Falls For Fake News, Tweets About Her Death, Deletes It Later

Rumours regarding the death of former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan went viral late on April 22. However, the rumours were quickly refuted by her staff. Falling to the fake news, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor too had tweeted his condolences. The tweet has since been deleted. Tharoor retracted his statement as soon as BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and others pointed out that it was false. The senior Congress leader then apologised for falling for fake news & wished her a “long life”. Mahajan has been admitted to Bombay Hospital in Indore with mild fever. Mahajan (78) was the Lok Sabha speaker from 2014 to 2019. She had earlier represented the Indore Lok Sabha constituency in Parliament for eight terms.
