‘I Will Not Apologise’: Kunal Kamra Issues Statement After His Stand-Up Act Criticising Eknath Shinde Triggered Political Storm, Slams Show Venue’s Vandalism
A day after his stand-up act criticising Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde with controversial "traitor" jibe kicked off a political storm, comedian Kunal Kamra on Monday, March 24, issued a statement, saying that “I don’t fear this mob and I will not be hiding under my bed, waiting for this to die down". Refusing to issue an apology as demanded by Shiv Sena leaders, Kamra reiterated his right to freedom of speech and expression, and called out “politicians threatening to teach him a lesson”. The 36-year-old comedian also criticised the vandalism of the venue where his comedy show was recorded. "Habitat (or any other venue) is not responsible for my comedy, nor does it have any power or control over what I say or do. Neither does any political party," he said.
