Liverpool were not in action this week in the English Premier League which gave Manchester City a chance to narrow the gap marginally. Pep Guardiola’s men defeated Leicester City at home but know they are still a long way off in catching up with Liverpool. Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur lost to Chelsea at home in an ill-tempered game marred by clashes. Manchester United continued to drop points against lower-ranked teams to reverse everything good that had happened in the past few weeks. In Spain, Barcelona opened up a two-point lead over arch-rivals Real Madrid with the demolition of Alaves while the Los Blancos could only manage a draw. A look at the top 5 goals of the week from across Europe. Most Goals for a Single Club: Lionel Messi Likely to Break Pele’s Record in 2020.

Gabriel Jesus vs Leicester City

Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus has not had the best of the season so far but his goal against Leicester City once again highlighted his poaching instincts in the opposition box. A terrific run by Kevin de Bruyne followed by a cross saw Jesus stretching every bit of his muscle to tap the ball home.

Arturo Vidal vs Deportivo Alaves

Midfielder Arturo Vidal is not known for his goal-scoring exploits but his splendid effort against Alaves made it to our list. He scored from an impossible angle across the goal to double Barcelona’s lead.

Danny Ings vs Aston Villa

A mistake by Aston Villa’s defence led to the ball finding Danny Ings who turned and shot from an acute angle to score Southampton’s third of the game. What was special about this goal is Ings had two players to beat on the turn and he did it with precision.

Jamie Vardy vs Manchester City

League’s top scorer Jamie Vardy ran the entirety of the opposition half to chip the ball over Ederson in City’s goal to score the Foxes’ opener against Manchester City. Although the strike proved to be of no value, in the end, Vardy’s textbook finishing is something budding footballers can learn from.

Willian vs Tottenham Hotspur

Willian’s striker against Spurs in the London derby is our top goal of the week. The Brazilian winger received the ball after a perfect one-two on a Chelsea corner and then produced a curling effort from the edge of the box which gave goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga absolutely no chance. Tottenham Hotspur Vow to Take ‘Strongest Possible Action’ Over Racial Abuse.

These were top goals of the week and with Boxing day looming, expect more such strikes to come.
