UK visa fees increase July 1
VISAS for travel to the United Kingdom will cost more as of July 1, the Foreign and Commonwealth Officer (FCO) in London has announced. The fee for a six-month permit moves from £36 to £50, a 39 per cent increase.
London term visas for stays of over six months – including student visas, work permit holders and working holiday makers – will increase to £85. Settlement visas will remain unchanged to £260.
The fees for passports, visas and chargeable consular services provided by the FCO in London and British consular posts overseas, will also change on July 1.
According to the FCO, these changes will ensure that the British government recovers the full cost of providing services in the UK and overseas.
British posts overseas processed 2.5 million visa applications during 2004/05. The fees for these services were last reviewed in 2002.
