Srinagar, December 4: The Srinagar Police on Wednesday informed that they had arrested five people who were allegedly active from the past several months in the Valley and used to hurl petrol bombs on police vehicles. The police officials also informed that these people were also involved in scaring people and were forcing them to shutter down their shops and business establishments and keep traffic off roads after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A.
Stating more about the arrest, the Srinagar police wrote on its social media handle, "Police Station M.R.Gunj Srinagar along with PP Urdu Bazar and PP Banamohalla achieved a big breakthrough in busting a module of 05 miscreants who were active from last so many months by hurling petrol bombs on Police/ Security force vehicles as well as were scaring people and were forcing them to shutter down their shops and business establishments and keep traffic off roads after abrogation of Article 370 and 35A." Adding more, it stated, "The group was involved in hurling petrol bombs on Police/ Security forces at Sarafkadal, Bohrikadal, Rajourikadal and Khanyar as well in the area of Nowhatta. The astonishing part of the group was that they used to keep a class 3rd student for spotting movement of Police/ Security forces vehicles and they used to carry petrol bomb attacks."
Following the arrest of these five people, police stated that this latest development would help in restoring overall normalcy in the downtown of the city and will lead to identification and arrest of more miscreants in the coming days.
