Hyderabad, December 21: Soon, the city of Nawabs can see multiple drones zipping through its skies, managing traffic and tracking civic work on the roads of Hyderabad. Drones can also be used for warding off the offenders, mapping encroachment and reconstructing accident scenes for a police investigation. These unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) are developed by tech firm Cyient, which is closely working with Cyberabad police to start these operations soon. Crime Against Women in Mumbai to go Down? The drones designed by Cyient were earlier used during a Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) rally, ahead of assembly elections to help the police to keep an eye on troublemakers and manage the traffic and crowd in the area. Dinakar Devireddy, head of innovation at Cyient, told The Times of India that "We have been associated with several projects including a pilot on combing operation for the Greyhounds." Dinakar added that these special drones are fitted with Thermal cameras and can alert the police if there is any movement in the restricted or secured area. Drones Can Fly in India! Meanwhile, calculating property tax and tracking civic work/violations are also being planned to carry out using drones. T Sreedhar, founder and chief operating officer (COO) of Terra Drones India Pvt Ltd said that they are in conversation with municipal corporation and urban development department to ascertain plot area by drone survey and accurately access property taxes. Sreedhar further added that this technology can be used for checking illegal mining in the state.
